Hosted by Patrick Chan: Patrick Chan started playing the drums at 12 years old in Ozark, Arkansas’ middle school band program. Since then, he’s never looked back. Patrick followed his passion for music and studied at the University of Arkansas Monticello with former drummer for the Airmen of Note (the U.S. Air Force Premier big band) C.E. Askew. During these formative years with C.E. Askew and other prominent musicians around the area such as Paul Stivitts and Clyde Pound, Patrick fostered his passion for music. After receiving his undergraduate degree in jazz studies at the University of Arkansas Monticello, he decided to leave Arkansas for New York City where he got accepted into SUNY Purchase and studied with legendary drummers Matt Wilson and Kenny Washington. It was here Patrick deepened his knowledge of the jazz lexicon and refined his musicianship. Since arriving in New York City, Patrick has shared the bandstand with many world renowned musicians and regularly appears in various clubs and venues throughout the tri-state area.
