Jam Session

10:00p-1:00a. No cover/1 drink minimum.
Drink special: Baby Jazz Cat Late Night (beer & a shot, $8, available 10:00p-1:00a).

Hosted by Jacob Chung: Jazz saxophonist Jacob Chung moved from Toronto to New York City in 2022 to study with Vincent Herring, whose advocacy for Jacob’s musical potential led to a record deal for Jacob’s sophomore album The Sage (2024) with the Cellar Music Group label. Featuring both Herring and drummer Joe Farnsworth, The Sage was named one of the best Canadian jazz releases of 2024 (Peter Hum, Ottawa Citizen). In 2025, Jacob released Live at Frankie’s Jazz Club, which was recorded live in Vancouver with the Tyler Henderson Trio.

Jacob maintains an active performance schedule at The Django, Ornithology, Smalls, Mezzrow, Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brvsh Cvl7r3, and other NYC clubs. Jacob plays in Rodney Green’s Jackson Miller Trio, the Chris Byars Octet, the Richard Cortez Band, and is a regular member of both Erena Terakubo’s Sextet and James Sarno’s Craftsman band. He has also shared the stage with Joe Magnarelli, the John Pizzarelli Big Band, Peter Washington, the Mingus Big Band, Pasquale Grasso, Ari Roland, and Joe Farnsworth. In 2025, Jacob appeared on the acclaimed livestream series, “Emmet’s Place,” alongside Emmet Cohen, Phil Norris, Bryan Carter, and special guest Kurt Elling. Jacob has performed twice at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C., first in 2023 with the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program and most recently with vibraphonist Chuck Redd in 2024. Jacob was also awarded “Outstanding Soloist” in Downbeat Magazine’s 2024 Student Music edition.
