In the 1940s, there was one integrated jazz club in New York City where all the greats played: Café Society in the West Village. Today, The Café Society is a straight-ahead jazz quintet led by tenor saxophonist Justin Flynn and vocalist Emily Wade Adams.

The Café Society has performed at some of the East Coast’s most prestigious music venues. Highlights include touring their acclaimed Nancy Wilson & Cannonball Adderley tribute across the Northeast and playing the premiere party for Broadway’s "Good Night Oscar," starring Tony-winner Sean Hayes. Flynn has shared the stage and recorded with jazz legends such as Vincent Herring, Peter Erskine, Joe Locke, Jeff Ballard, and Randy Brecker. Adams's session/toplining work with Mewgenics recently reached #23 on the Billboard jazz charts, and she has headlined with the Cape Cod Symphony, Ray of Light Theater, and at 54 Below.

Their new album, "Blame It On My Youth," has been earning attention for its craft and scholarship as much as its charm. Captured in live takes and featuring musicians with deep lineage, recent press heralds their interpretations of the Great American Songbook as "captivating," "classy," "ravishing," "magnetic," "elegant," and "heartfelt." All About Jazz has highlighted each new release as a "Song of the Day."

Celebrating the launch of their album release at One Flight Up is a natural choice, as the club was founded by their dear friend (and the drummer on the album) Joe Strasser. Strasser (Harold Mabern, Jane Monheit), Rick Germanson (Elvin Jones, Louis Hayes), and Jim Greene (Art Farmer, John Hicks) round out the personnel for this evening's special event.
