Vanisha Gould is a jazz vocalist, composer, and bandleader based in New York City. Since moving to NYC in 2015, she has become a compelling voice on the contemporary jazz scene, performing internationally throughout Europe and Russia while developing a reputation for emotionally honest storytelling and a rich contralto sound rooted in both tradition and experimentation. Gould has released three albums to date: In Her Words (2021), Life’s a Gig (2024), and She’s Not Shiny, She’s Not Smooth (2024). The first single from her upcoming fourth album, What An Interesting Girl, was released in July, with the full album arriving in October. In addition to her recording and performance work, Gould is currently developing In The Margins: The Vanisha Gould Songbook, an evolving multidisciplinary project combining original compositions, poetry, personal essays, and visual storytelling. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Gould was awarded a New Jazz Works Artist Residency at The Jazz Gallery in 2023 and continues to establish herself as one of jazz’s most distinctive emerging artists.
